Jota de concierto Joaquín Larregla The term is almost over, only 5 shows for me to finish my first season as Assistant Conductor and Grange Park Opera, so this is a little post to highlight some great moments in the last months! BLP CHOIR * Winners* of the Legal Harmony competition. Southwark Cathedral, May 9th 2015 Assisting Stephen Barlow (La Boheme) and Gianluca Marciano (Samson et Dalila) at Grange Park Opera has been a wonderful experience! Working with two fantastic conductors, alongside two very strong casts, a top orchestra and a brilliant chorus! What else? There have been some surprise moments during the season, for example, when I had to step in at the Sitzprobe (first rehearsal of the singers with the orchestra) and sing Rodolfo's part! (Yes, that is right, La Boheme's Rodolfo.. not a small part!). Or when I had to take over two piano- stage rehearsals! Even better, the moments Gianluca Marciano let me conduct the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra! As I said, a wonderful experience! Last, but definitely not least, I was privileged to go back a third season to the Bramley and Little London Music Festival, and play some Spanish and Latin American Music to a wonderful audience. It was a shared recital with harpist Claire Jones, and we ended up playing together with her husband an arrangement for harp, piano and percussion of Piazzalla's Libertango! Fuuuun!
Very happy to announce that after a fantastic first season as Chorus Master at Grange Park Opera, I will come back in 2015, this time as Assistant Conductor to Stephen Barlow and Gianluca Marciano in La Boheme and Samson et Dalilah, respectively!
I'm having a fascinating but also very busy time this year, after my appointment in September as Director of the Academia de Música Cañada Blanch. Other wonderful projects are the debut of Ensemble Iberia with Horacio Lopez Redondo, or leading Legal Harmony to victory in the Avma Choir Competition! .. and hopefully, I will be able to give you more exciting news very soon! Take care and enjoy music! Maite I was fortunate to be asked by the composer himself, Marcos Fernandez, to conduct his piece Kappascope for the Rhapsody Composing Project. A wonderful and inspiring initiative linking together visual and performing arts to help patients at the Hospital. It's ambassador is none other than Eric Whitacre. Recorded at the Royal College of Music last December, you can listen to the pre-master version here! It is a thrilling piece of music! Enjoy!
You can find more about Marcos in his website.
2014 has started with wonderful news! I'm delighted to announce my appointment as Chorus Master at Grange Park Opera 2014. Peter Grimes, La Traviata, Don Quixote and Pique Dame will be my companions for the next months in this wonderful adventure! In the mean time, next recital date is also coming soon, 24th January and St Bride's Church featuring a Debussy and Ravel programme. [Programme notes coming next!] M. |
